A few words about us

Lead generation with an international and Commonwealth dimension
Commonwealth Argosy Events was set up in 2015 as part of the wider Commonwealth Argosy Group (read more here) by a small team of seasoned networkers. We all have long and varied international careers in different sectors, including oil & gas, management consultancy, strategic communications, engineering, government and finance. We felt there was a need for a membership club that combined the commercial opportunities of international business lead development with a more social element. Trust is important in building relations anywhere, especially internationally. With contacts around the world, becoming a member of Argosy Events might well be your step on the path to international business development.

The expert network for the Commonwealth can include you
We set up Argosy Events with two interlinked elements. First is the club for members that seeks out business leads and seeks to bring members together in various interest groups, which might be geographical or sector interests. Second are the monthly events at central venues with interesting speakers on the first Thursday of the month (mostly). These provide regular opportunities to meet new members, for members to introduce guests, and for members to have their businesses and their needs highlighted and featured. Our membership forms a growing expert network for commercial projects with an international and Commonwealth dimension.

We are constantly trying to develop ways to support our members and our interest groups are our vehicle for doing that, either geographical or sector interests.

    Alistair Wood LVO, MBE is Chairman of the Commonwealth Argosy Group.
  • Bernie Meredith
    Bernie Meredith Chief Executive

    Bernie has been MD of a Management Consultancy business for over 25 years, and has consulted to companies in South Africa, the States, UK and Europe. She has consulted to various corporate clients and helped many SMEs grow and develop. She is passionate about developing Commonwealth Argosy to help businesses across the Commonwealth grow.

    Neville Gaunt Director

    Neville has spent most of his career in the international corporate world in oil&gas and construction. He brings a proven record of optimising financial and commercial outcomes through a combination of original thinking, pragmatism and a determination to get results.

  • Peter Lindsay
    Peter Lindsay Director

    Peter is an independent international trade adviser with a wealth of experience supporting SMEs enter new markets. Currently London based, he has lived and worked in Commonwealth and many other countries. An active Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, Peter is a Senior Consultant at British Expertise International for whom he chairs a networking group and leads overseas trade missions. Passionate about Humanitarian Aid & International Development, he is a member of the AidEx Steering Committee.

  • Mark Goldfinch
    Mark Goldfinch Marketing Manager

    Mark’s background in strategic communications makes him passionate about helping people and businesses get their communications right, long term. As a career Arabist and Middle East specialist, he is particularly attuned to cultural sensitivities, and knows when these are handled right they can lead to greater understanding and international opportunities.

    Mark founded his marketing company Project You in 2013 after many years working in the field of international communications. He worked extensively in Egypt, Iraq and other Middle East countries as an Arabic speaker, political analyst and translator, and has an MA in International Security. He also worked for a number of advertising and PR companies in London and wrote a history of modern Egypt. He is committed to ensuring individuals, SMEs and businesses at all levels get their communications right, and is a firm believer in the benefits of international trade.  

  • Neil Collins
    Neil Collins Membership Manager

    Neil has over 20 years of large corporate experience working initially as a Supply Chain & Logistics specialist and latterly as a Senior Project Manager. Strong organisational skills, an eye for detail and a tenacity to get the job done has resulted in many successful project implementations over the years. He is a Prince 2 Practitioner in Project Management and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport
